Ann Demeulemeester is a Belgian brand that has rapidly become one of my absolute favourite labels. The deeper I dive into their history and philosophy, the more I find myself completely captivated and inspired by their work. If you consider yourself a modern vampire living in today’s world, I would absolutely recommend exploring their latest collections to take your wardrobe to a whole new level. With a wide range of collaborations involving artists from various creative fields, this brand truly transcends fashion—it embodies emotion, intelligence, and compelling stories.

Since Stefano Gallici took the helm as Creative Director in 2023, the brand has been flourishing, delivering stunning collections marked by a dark, gothic-inspired, monochromatic aesthetic that feels both fresh and timeless. You can see the unmistakable punk rock and indie influences that Gallici brings to every piece he designs. One notable project by him is KIDS, inspired by the sprawling, enigmatic city of Los Angeles.

As a Canadian who has never set foot in LA, my mind’s image of the city was familiar—palm trees, skaters rocking Vans, influencers everywhere, and the glitz of Hollywood Hills.

But Gallici’s vision unveils a totally different side of LA: a shadowy, emotional, and deeply personal city filled with real people who have names and stories to tell. Mostly shot in stark black and white, the photos capture raw, gritty, and inspiring emotions unlike the typical postcard image of LA.

Featuring select pieces from the AW2025 collection, this is Ann Demeulemeester’s unique take on Los Angeles—a side of the city I never would’ve associated with the brand before, yet it fits perfectly, demonstrating a refreshing, unexpected perspective.
